Military Service is a Sin

Military service, which is actually no "service" at all, is a sin. You heard that right. Contrary to the teachings of virtually all modern, so-called "Christian" pulpits, joining the military today is a bona fide, 100%, absolute sin against God.

Those who sin by joining the military may be sure that they are violating the commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ and, as it is written:

"He who says, "I know [Jesus]," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." -1 John 2:4

Here are two main reasons why joining the military is a sin:

1. Military Service is Slavery
Modern military service is slavery and those who join the military allow themselves to become the literal "slaves of men." That is a sin, for the Lord Jesus Christ specifically commands Christians NOT to become the "slaves of men" (1Cor 7:23); as it is clearly written:

"You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men." -1 Corinthians 7:23

Some will argue this fact, claiming that because there is no current draft in place and because people must voluntarily join the military, it cannot be slavery. This is not true. Even during the times of legalized slavery, anyone who wished could voluntarily sell themselves and become a slave. Just because someone volunteered to sell themselves did not mean that they would not then become a true slave, it just meant that they chose to become a slave.

Slavery has been defined by many different sources in many different ways for many years. Within the last decade or so, however, the definition of "slave" has been changed by the powers that be in order to veil truth.

Today, a slave is defined by the Satanic force known as Google simply as "A person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them." While this definition does represent one form of slavery, slaves are not always the "legal" property of another. In the U.S., for example, it is illegal to own another person. Sex traffickers have absolutely no "legal" ownership of those whom they traffic, yet the trafficked are slaves nonetheless, despite this ridiculous definition drummed up by Google.

Indeed, there are myriad forms of slavery, but the universal elements of what makes a person a "slave" have always held true throughout the ages, and only one of these elements needs to be present in order for a person to be a slave:
  1. A slave is someone who will suffer physical pain and/or imprisonment for disobedience to someone else
  2. A slave is someone who will suffer physical pain and/or imprisonment for ceasing work, resigning, or retiring without the express permission of someone else
  3. A slave is someone who will suffer physical pain and/or imprisonment for permanently or temporarily leaving their assigned location without the express permission of someone else
Now let's compare a slave to a modern U.S. soldier:
  • A modern U.S. soldier is someone who will suffer physical pain and/or imprisonment for disobedience to someone else
  • A modern U.S. soldier is someone who will suffer physical pain and/or imprisonment for ceasing work, resigning, or retiring without the express permission of someone else
  • A modern U.S. soldier is someone who will suffer physical pain and/or imprisonment for permanently or temporarily leaving their assigned location without the express permission of someone else
There is no difference in these primary elements between a slave and a modern U.S. soldier. Indeed, those who "serve" in the military have sinned by making themselves the "slaves of men." And, by the way, that especially includes chaplains (James 3:1).

For those who may be in doubt as to whether the statement "Do not become the slaves of men" (1Cor 7:23) is an actual command of the Lord Jesus Christ instead of just good advice, one need look no further than a few chapters ahead in the same letter, where the following is expressly stated:

"If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord." -1Corinthians 14:37

If you have made yourself the slave of men you have sinned. Therefore, confess your sin (1 John 1:9) and repent (Rev 3:19). Now go, for "you were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men" (1 Corinthians 7:23).

Keep in mind, however, that if you have already joined the military and made yourself a slave, you cannot just leave. You took an oath and agreed to sign your name to a binding contract. Therefore, you must keep your oath (Ps 15:4). However, if there be some legal way to free yourself, do it (1Cor 7:21).

Moreover, although you must obey most orders while you remain in the military, know that the commandments of Christ are superior to any other order your military superiors may give you. As the apostles declared, "We ought to obey God rather than men" (Acts5:29). Therefore, if you are given an order to carry out an act that would violate a commandment of the Lord, you must not comply regardless of the consequences.

2. The U.S. Military is a Force for Evil
If all of that were not enough to deter someone from joining the U.S. military, one should know with a certainty that today, the US military is a force for evil across the world. It is an unaccountable, criminal  organization that murders hundreds of thousands of innocent people; abducts, imprisons, tortures, and displaces those they do not murder; robs and strips whole countries of their natural resources for monetary gain; installs oppressive puppet governments in foreign countries in order to secure contracts for resources and to suppress uprisings; and exploits and destabilizes the populations of entire countries for the profit of certain criminal elites who sit in high places.

Indeed, if you do not believe the U.S. Military is a force for evil throughout the world, you've not been paying attention.

The Call to Be a Warrior, Not a Soldier
Lastly, I would like to make something very clear: Although the Christian man should never be a "soldier" (Acts 5:29; 1Cor 7:23), the Christian man must be a "warrior" (Gen 14:14-16; Ex 2:11-12,16-22; Judges 8:11,20-21,15:14-15; 1Sam 15:33,17:51,18:27; 2Sam 8:5; Ps 82:3-4; John 2:15; Luke 19:27,22:36; Acts 13:9-12; Rev 21:8).

A soldier is a slave; a tool of wicked men. A soldier is someone who suffers indignities who is required to blindly obey the commands of his superiors without question.

A warrior, on the other hand, is a free man who weighs the opinions of his superiors with his own knowledge and experience and then chooses to do what is right.

Be a man (1Kings 2:2). Be a warrior (Psalm 82:3-4). Live free (2Cor 3:17). Do not become the slaves of men (1Cor 7:23).
